How To Get Rid Of A Headache That Wakes You Up!

Waking up with headaches 🤕? Hard to get back to sleep 🛌 ? You’re not the only one!

The majority of persons/patients that have headaches originating from the neck have movement restrictions in the upper neck joints and tissue restrictions there as well. Accompanied with this, typically they will present with neck muscle weakness and incoordination of the neck itself.

Often times, sustained positions or postures, even sleeping 😴 positions can be triggers to onset the headache. And as you know, once it starts, it is sometimes a challenge to get to go away quickly!

If you are a side or stomach sleeper and do get headaches, as well as wake up with headaches I want you to try this:

✅Try to stop sleeping on your side or stomach, sleep on your back

✅If you end up on your side or back and wake with a headache, try this exercise in the video

✅Place a towel roll about 3-4 inches in diameter under your neck and gently roll your head downward (as if you are nodding yes) on your neck and hold for three seconds pressing into towel. Repeat 3 sets of 10-12 repetitions. It will feel weak.

✅Get out of the bed and walk for about three minutes and do some deep breathing

✅When you return to bed, repeat one more round and add a heating pad over the towel

✅Return to sleep on your back with a thin to medium comfortable pillow

✅Stay off your phone 📱 in bed 🛌
